In the ears of animals, the waxy and darkish substance generally indicates the ear mites. Dog get affected by ear mite rarely, they attack cat ears often or on puppies. Your pet feels irritated because of these ear mites. They scratch their ears all the time which can further hurt them.

Ear Mite on Dogs

Otodectes cynotis is the most common kind of ear mite that attacks a dog’s ear. In the dog’s ear, this is the tiny parasite having eight legs and feeds on the dog’s ear wax and oil. These mites are so small because they cannot detect through a naked eye. Dog’s get mites from outdoor dogs, therefore you have to take care of them. The common symptoms to dog ear mites are:

  • Scratching ears
  • Rubbing ears
  • Head shaking
  • Waxy brown or black substance in the ear
  • Inflammation

  • Pour hydrogen peroxide inside your dog’s ear with the help of a dropper and massage gently
  • Use a cotton bud and apply aloe vera gel inside your dog’s ear.
  • You can also use baby oil and massage your dog’s ear. Take about 3 to 4 drops of baby oil.
  • Clean dog’s place and bed
  • Use vitamin e and almond oil together and apply the ear of the animal for about 6 days.
